I see you’ve Malta on the menu to the right, so I thought you might like to note that Malta has a month-long Summer Arts Festival in July, which includes its now 21-yr-old Malta International Jazz Festival. It’s in an amazing setting too, right by Grand Harbour, with the floodlit bastions around and nestling below Malta’s capital, a Unesco World Heritage site, Valletta. It’s well worth making a trip there to coincide with. Lots of international music during the festival, and, strangely or not so, Malta sees a lot of opera (winter months more), as we’ve now a rising international star who is homegrown, the tenor Joseph Calleja. A good top 5, although the list could easily stretch to 10 due to the quality of the courses on the Algarve. It’s nice to see Boavista on your list, Penina at Alvor is also a favourite.

This is a really interesting article, one thing that does make you wonder is how Greece are going to front the money to spend that level of renovations at a time of worldwide reccession. That aside the post highlights the natural beauty that Greek people are luck enough to have on their doorstep and is a checklist for anyone wanting to take in the sights on a trip there.
