We’ve discovered a fantastic wine tour in Le March, which we can highly recommend if you are lucky enough to be staying in the area. Set up and run by Marco who has heaps of experience with wines all over the world, and has in fact studied Viticulture and Oenology (wine making) at Ancona University and become a member of the Italian Sommeliers Society, you are certainly in capable hands.

A – Opera of course!

If you love a bit of opera then you simply can’t afford to miss the open-air opera festival at Macerata’s Sferisterio in Le Marche this summer. Taking place on Saturday 31st July, Wednesday 4th, and Sunday 8th August (2010 dates) – the open-air opera festival at Macerata’s Sferisterio is an absolute must. There’s seating for 3,000 and you can expect “ a grand opera in five acts by Charles Gounod to a French libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré from Carré’s play “Faust et Marguerite”, which was first performed in Paris on March 19, 1859.

You’d be excused for not knowing about the Hulda Festival, it’s not been hugely publicised here in the UK.

The festival has in fact been running since March 2009 and finishes in November 2010 and celebrates the coalescence of arts and sciences around Hulda, the 100-year old sailing boat of the Turkish-Swedish artist Ilhan Koman (Edirne 1921 – Stockholm 1986).

If you’re a fan of cycling and events like Le Tour De France then you’re going to love Giro d’Italia 2010, which takes place from 8^th May to the 30^th May across many of Italy’s most scenic routes.

We have a number of well positioned luxury villas (with pools) along a few of the stages, which are available for rental.

Stage – 7 Sat 15th May (Tuscany)

Route takes riders from Carrera along coast to Viareggio and Pisa (nearest properties are Mare e Montagne 3 bed, Il Ciocchetto 1 bed, and La Capannella 2 bed), then on to Volterra (nearest property is Villa Serena 3 bed) then past Siena down to Montalcino (nearest houses are Villa dei Fiori 5 bed, and Fonte Emerosa 3 bed).
