Best walks in Menorca

With hidden coves, miles of beach and dramatic cliffs Menorca is a stunning island to explore by foot. Here’s our essential guide to the best walks in Menorca (broken down into short, medium and long walks):

Short Walks in Menorca

Coastal Walk – Cala Galdana to Cala Macarella (Approx 30 minutes)

This walk begins at the steps almost opposite the Hotel Audax and heads west over the wooded cliffs to the pine-fringed cove of Cala Macarella.

The picturesque cove is enclosed by limestone cliffs with those on the western side containing 3 large caves. The sand at the Macarella is very white and the sea shelves very gradually which makes it doable for young and old. There is also a beach bar at the western end of the beach – a welcome sight on a hot day.

Be sure to check out Macarella's white sands (and take your swimwear!)

Festival of Mare de Deu de Gràcia in Mahon, Menorca

If you’re lucky enough to be in Menorca during early September we can definitely recommend taking time out to visit the Mare de Deu de Gràcia Festival in Mahon.

Here’s our Deborah’s first hand review of last year’s festival -

We parked the car down at the port and meandered along the harbour front before joining the tourist trip on the glass bottom boat around the harbour.  After a leisurely hour on the water, we arrived back and walked along to the famous Xoriguer gin factory; finding it closed, a bit perturbed we then ambled along to the church and that too was closed, as were all the shops.  It was only when we reached the centre of town and found the paved streets covered with sand, that I realised this was the day of one of the island’s biggest festivals.
